End of the 2019-20 School Year

Dear Cardinal Family:

Today, May 18th, is the final day of eLearning for BSD and officially brings the 2019-20 school year to a close.  While certainly not the ending to the year we had all wished for, I am proud to call it another successful year.  We have been witness to a countless number of individual and/or group and team achievements.  The students and staff always put forth their personal best and displayed a commitment to helping anyone in need.  I would like to thank the students, staff and community for the support they have provided during these unfortunate times.

Mr. Dean and Mr. Riggleman have both communicated end of the year plans/reminders for families.  Their reminders have included the following activities:

  • Elementary student item pickup/dropoff:  Wednesday, May 20th from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Jr.-Sr. High student item pickup/dropoff (including Chromebook, charger and case):  Thursday, May 21st from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

  • Jr. - Sr. High School Classroom, Senior and Top 10 Awards:  Wednesday, May 27th at 1:00 PM via Facebook Live

  • Commencement for the Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School Class of 2020:  Saturday, July 25th at 11:00 AM (Additional details will be shared at a later date)

In addition, the final meal pick-up from the BSD food assistance program will be Tuesday, May 19th.  If your family needs further assistance during the summer, please call Mike Toon, with the Blessed Bloomfield Group at 812-381-1972

While nobody can predict what the 2020-21 school year will bring, I would like to assure families that BSD staff is already planning for a variety of scenarios and will be well prepared for the start of school, whatever that will look like, in August.  School administration will share additional information with families regarding school reentry plans via BSD’s communication platforms as plans are developed and finalized.

The Bloomfield School District wishes all families a healthy and safe summer break.  To the Class of 2020, it has been both an honor and a privilege to serve you.  We congratulate and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!.

Educationally Yours,

Jeff Gibboney,

Little Cardinals Preschool Enrollment for 2020-21

Welcome to the Bloomfield School District. We serve grades PK-12 on one campus – which includes Bloomfield Elementary School (PK through Grade 6) and Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School (Grades 7-12). Our students are pushed to learn and achieve academically through a variety of core curriculum and support services that meet the unique educational, social and emotional needs of each child. Our faculty and staff work with students and their parents to provide quality educational opportunities in a structured, safe and supportive learning environment.

As superintendent, I am proud of the opportunities our district continues to provide for our students. Bloomfield Elementary School offers a robust curriculum, including we Engineering is Elementary. We believe in inspiring innovation in today's classrooms to engage students in discovering their inner engineer as they become lifelong STEM learners. Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School offers students an educational experience supported by our Digital Learning Initiative. All students in grades 7-12 are issued a Lenovo 11E Chromebooks at the start of each school year. Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School offers students the opportunity to earn college credits at little or no cost to parents, we are the only school in Greene County to be accredited an Early College High School by the Center for Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis. We support an active FFA which participates in state competitions, as well as a world class NJROTC program that was recognized as a Distinguished Unit for Area 3 last school year.

These are just a few examples of the wonderful activities taking place in our schools.  If you are interested in joining the Bloomfield community, please contact me directly at (812) 384-4507.  I would love to share with you all of the reasons why Bloomfield School District is a very special place.
