UPDATE-March 31, 2020

We have established a revised academic plan for the duration of our closure and will begin our plan the week of April  6th. It is important for families to understand our plan is tentative and may need to be adjusted moving forward as we receive further directives from Governor Holcomb, Indiana Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Education.  We recognize that not every family has access to technology. Details to navigate these issues will be communicated by Mr. Dean and Mr. Riggleman.

Governor Holcomb directed schools to close and implement alternative methods of instruction through May 1, 2020.  Our hope is for students to return to our buildings on May 4th. Enclosed you will find a revised calendar, to share our plans for April and May (if a return is not possible).  Please note, the eLearning portion of our calendar that continues beyond May 1st is only applicable if Governor Holcomb’s executive order is not lifted.

BSD eLearning resumes the week of April 6th. Our schedule allows for a combination of eLearning days and waiver days provided by the Governor.

Schedule Beginning the Week of April 6, 2020

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be eLearning days for students.

  • Tuesday and Thursday will not be eLearning days for students, however, students are encouraged to use these days to finish and submit work.

  • Mr. Riggleman and Mr. Dean will be providing students and families with building-specific eLearning information in a follow-up message.

Welcome tO BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT

Welcome to the Bloomfield School District. We serve grades PK-12 on one campus – which includes Bloomfield Elementary School (PK through Grade 6) and Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School (Grades 7-12). Our students are pushed to learn and achieve academically through a variety of core curriculum and support services that meet the unique educational, social and emotional needs of each child. Our faculty and staff work with students and their parents to provide quality educational opportunities in a structured, safe and supportive learning environment.

As superintendent, I am proud of the opportunities our district continues to provide for our students. Bloomfield Elementary School offers a robust curriculum, including we Engineering is Elementary. We believe in inspiring innovation in today's classrooms to engage students in discovering their inner engineer as they become lifelong STEM learners. Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School offers students an educational experience supported by our Digital Learning Initiative. All students in grades 7-12 are issued a Lenovo 11E Chromebooks at the start of each school year. Bloomfield Jr.-Sr. High School offers students the opportunity to earn college credits at little or no cost to parents, we are the only school in Greene County to be accredited an Early College High School by the Center for Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis. We support an active FFA which participates in state competitions, as well as a world class NJROTC program that was recognized as a Distinguished Unit for Area 3 last school year.

These are just a few examples of the wonderful activities taking place in our schools.  If you are interested in joining the Bloomfield community, please contact me directly at (812) 384-4507.  I would love to share with you all of the reasons why Bloomfield School District is a very special place.

Educationally Yours,
